How deep did you put the tp posts on the retaining wall and what was your distance between em?
damned nice work on the rest of the place. What a difference!

Hi im going to be building a similar TP wall as yours, any reason for using the TP sleeper as a post and not an actual squared post like some do, im all new to this so just wanted to make sure there's not a structual reason or anything like that. Also what type of bolts have you used.
Cheers

I did mine the same way. Three reasons:
1. Gives you more room to drill holes for bolts/screws so they don't have to be an inch or so in from the end of the board
2. Doesn't stick out as far as a 4" post would
3. Looks better (in my opinion)

Yep, the place I am living at the moment has the retaining wall like that, in fact most that I have seen are built this way. As for the bolts, You might need to check but I think they have to be coated with something special because of the CCA treatment will react with galvanised coatings on normal bolts. Maybe Stainless (would cost a fortune though).
Have a nice day - Cheers

Yep, I did, behind both block and TP walls...
Do a search in the Landscaping section of the Home Reno Forums, Im pretty sure I had threads asking questions about, and then the construction of both walls in there......
Cheers

Hi all,
Just thought I would post some more pics of what Ive been up to in the last few months.
This is out the front now....
Basically Ive
- Laid the 20m path and small island of pavers
- dug in countless amounts of Gypsum and good soil (to combat my clay)
- In 4 days I planted over 250 plants (my hamstrings were killing me!)
- Remulched
- Installed a couple of water tanks and timber screen....
Some during and after shots belowI want to die peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming in terror like the passengers in his car.

And just some other random shots from the front yard
Now I have a weeks break down at the coast (I plan on doing as little as possible besides watching the boxing day test and eating and drinking) then get stuck into the cubby house on my return
Joel
Edit: whoops, that shot of the car is the wrong one, not sure how I managed thatI want to die peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming in terror like the passengers in his car.
