Four lazy susan’s.

How I have attached the susan bearing. The aluminium bearings come from Timbecon and they have little rubber suction cup feet on them. They work well enough. Sometimes I add an extra timber disc to act as a base, but it was too much work this time

All are ~19.5mm thick and use a 300mm diameter aluminium bearing.
Each has its own distinct characteristics. Gotta love timber, no two pieces are the same.
Finished with two coats of my own danish oil blend of 25% BLO, 45% gloss poly, 30% mineral turpentine. Then three or four rattle can spray coats of Minwax Poly satin. Rubbed back to give a smooth feel and satin lustre. They were going to be french polished, and I even got pretty damn close to getting them polished up to a super high mirror gloss. But the gods hate me and kept putting cotton fibres throughout the finish. The finish I do have on them now is probably more appropriate. Hard wearing and not super high gloss which will show up marks instantly.

How do you find the spray cans of Minwax Poly? And where do you get them?

Minwax Wipe-on-Poly is one of my favorite finishes and a spray alternative sounds good for small jobs.
I've tried different brands of spray varnish (cans) and didn't like them at all, so use White Knight satin acrylic for smaller stuff like boxes.

I don't know much about what is good or bad as far as a spray finish off the gun/can. However, I found these cans to be 'ok'. I sprayed the finish on xmas day and it was 36 degrees outside and about the same inside the garage. I have cans of clear satin. I feel that if I used gloss cans with the intention of having a gloss finish, the finish would have looked wavy unless I did some serious amount of flattening and rubbing out. But for a satin finish, it looks flat and feels flat so therefore in my imaginary world it is flat.

I bought the cans from Masters. There was always something odd about Masters stocking these cans. They never had a price tag on the oil modified cans, but they stacked them on the shelf where the water-based cans were supposed to be (which were priced around the $25-30 mark iirc). So I took one to the register and found they were only 10bux each. So I grabbed them all. And then they got more in during the closing down sale and I picked up the rest that they had for about 4bux/can. winner winner chicken dinner

Spraying worked well enough and I was able to spray the tops and bottoms of these four susans in about 20mins each coat. So I am considering buying a sprayer which doesn't use a compressor. I think they are about 600bux.

I reckon i'll be moving to the cabots products for my polyurethanes when i finish off my Minwax stuff.
