Nostalgic Coat Hangar
For some time I had seen this coat hangar in our wardrobe and thought nothing of it other than is was a little on the naive side, but it seemed to the job it was designed to do. The other day SWMBO asked if I could repair it as the wire hook had become loose in the hole and was pulling through.

Of course I asked if she really wanted to bother, Then she explained that her Uncle Roy had made the coat hangar as a Christmas present for her mother. At the time her mother was six years old and her Uncle Roy would have been about fourteen. He in fact made the hangar for his future sister in law, not that he would have known that at the time as he had just started working for SWMBO's grandfather.
The year was 1930.
In fact Roy wrote on the hangar:

"From Roy to Jill 1930."
I just thought of how such a simple goodwill gesture from a teenage boy to a little six year old girl had survived 87 years.
The repair was easy. Just pein over the end of the wire so it can't pull through.

Looks like it will spend a few more years in our wardrobe.
