It's all NSW rosewood. The top is two boards - almost bookmatched, but not quite. White laminated glass down the centre. The frame is of course M&T joints all round.

Finish is many coats of Miniwax wipe on poly (satin), finished with Neil's wonderful wax as usual.

Neither photo I'm altogether happy with, but the second one does a nice job of showing of the figure in the top, despite the reflection from the kitchen lights.
    Hi Darryl,

Love the wood - but have to say I'm not a fan of the glass.

The table's form is just right, though. Still don't like the glass - but that's your choice, and if you like it, then that's fine too

    Thanks guys & gals

The glass sits in rebates - took a bit of care to get the fit just right, and it doesn't seem to want to slide around or anything.

With the top I brushed on two coats, then sanded with 400 grit, then wiped on another 6 coats, then wet sanded with 800, 1200 and 2000, then EEE, then wax. Not perfect, but I'm pretty happy with it.

    The rosewood came from www.woodcentre.com.au

The chairs will be rosewood and leather or suede - but beyond that I'm not sure on design. I'm looking for ideas if anyone has seen a nice modern-ish design.

Darryl, not sure if its what you want, but i think the style you have achieved with the table would suit fully upholstered chairs with the same tapered legs as the table and either Warwick - Halo Endeavour lime, or Macrosuede Lima. Both colors would match the color of the glass and you would end up with a beautifull contemporary setting

Very nice Dazza. I too like the contrast. Have the tin lids spilt anything on it yet? assuming you have tin lids that is!

I saw this table during construction, and the joinery work in it is as fine as any I've ever seen.
    Another good one mate.

He's putting in a bit of grovel time.

But then if I had a shed full of new toys and SWMBO still served me fresh baked hot scones in the workshop, I'd do a bit of the same.

Termite is pretty well on the money

Got a whole bunch of furniture projects to finish before I get stuck in with the new lathe - I tend to kind of get in a groove with turning and neglect the other stuff. Lots of new toys to play with - and Dee has been very patient lately

My dad actually is the only one to use the new lathe so far - first time he's stepped up to one in 30-odd years and he turned out a nice jacaranda bowl the other weekend.

The table did give me a chance to give the new Jet cabinet saw a workout, the new bandsaw, and the new Dewalt router
