    Default The Poker Chair WIP

I am ready to start making the first of a set of 10 chairs for my poker table. I've made one previously and although friends and family are impressed I am not. This will be mark 2. The first one was a process I had to go through to learn about woodwork and I did learn a lot. I am pretty confident that I can now produce something that I will be very happy with.

I've asked a lot of questions in these forums and I want to show that the information people have shared with me has actually been used. I don't have all the tools I would like but you will be able to see how I work around it.

If anyone has any tips or critisism don't be afraid to speak up, I want to learn.

Posting this WIP will help drive me to complete the work in a timely manner as I have half a dozen unfinished projects on the shelf at the moment.

The chair is an "Arts & Crafts" design. I have had a mental picture of what I want to build in the back of my mind and the other week I saw almost the exact thing on the web. The chair I'm going to build is going to be very similar. It also has similarities to the first chair I made from plans here http://www.popularmechanics.com/home...g/1273271.html

I am going to use these Popular Mechanics plans and alter them to achieve the look I'm after. I've drawn it up in Sketch Up.

I'm going to use African Mahogany which will I will dye with Transtint analine dye and finish with Floorseal. I am going to use dominos for the loose tenons and cut mortises using Rocker's mortising jig. All the edges will be rounded over with a 3mm round over bit.
