I bought a slab of Huon Pine at the WWWS because I had this box in mind to make. It really is a beautiful timber to work with as you all probably know. So easy to machine and sand. I tried something different where the tray handle protrudes through the lid and becomes one with the lid handle so you can lift the tray out with the lid on it. I was particularly pleased with the contrast of the Rose Alder. My intention was for the lid to be the same thickness as the bottom finger and to be cut square and flush with the sides but a little chip happened when I was rebating it so I had to trim it.

Very impressive. I will have to stop throwing the banksia prunings out!

I was just reading another thread where someone said if you make a box a week your hands get the hang of it. How true that is. I like to have 2-3 on the go at the same time and although they differ in design there are some of the same fabrication elements to each so setting up machinery becomes worthwhile. A few of my latest.
A Red Cedar box for a pasta maker

A Blackwood to replace the one i sold recently.

This one piece of European Oak veneer came with a recent batch i received for Tassculptor so i made the most of it.

My intention is to keep preacticing

I think the Birds eye and Huon Pine are a fine match. This one was a real time consuming challenge but worked out well.
