Ribbon Mahogany Range hood cover
Hi guys, here is the latest disaster....err, creation. I just kind of made it up as I went along, and it seems to have turned out okay.
In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

hi mate, nice job, i probably would have had the grain the other way, but i like what you have done regardless.
How do you finish something like this, i imagine, you have to be careful because of fumes, and fire danger.

If t'were me I would line it with stainless steel, spaced 2 cm away from the timber and extending over the bottom edges. It would be a shame to see such a loverly piece of joinery get damaged by the greasy fumes that come from cooking!
Jacko
ps may have been easier to build it around the SS liner?

That is very nice bat!
I agree also with the comments about the edges. Make sure they are really well sealed as fumes and grease can make an awful mess of wood.
