That's a very nice table - hope you get into your choice at Uni. You know that all architects really just want to design & build a new chair .
Hickory, don't know how things are over there, but I teach evening classes in a high school classroom, and every so often my faith is restored by seeing an outstanding piece of work from one of the day students.
It concerns me though, that some of the tools aren't up to the job. Last night, we went through 6 try squares before we found one that was square. These are old ones - it would be worthwhile scrapping them all and buying some decent engineers squares. Also, students are very limited now as to what power tools they are allowed to use.

Well done..
A bueautifully crafted piece of work.. With a promise like that I would be studying hard I dream of a space that big to use as a shed... dont forget in the midst of the study to play a bit though especially with another Woodworking project

Very nice work.
Did you carve the feet yourself?
Lovely finish.
Top marks all around.

Splendid job Gjrudqjr! (what sort of name is that, BTW?)
Tassie Blackwood can be especially nice. Good luck in scoring a shed and even more in getting what you want from Uni...

While not wanting to repeat all else that has gone before, very well done. Great looking finish, good proportions, attention to detail (saw the "hold down" bolts) Was it your own design? Good colour matching on the various peices of timber.
Hope you get to stay with it, there must be a lot of projects to do between now and hanging up your leather apron (you do have one don't you?)

Thanks all you guys. A lot~ your praises inspire me to work harder.
its really hard study and going to school these days. Feels empty not cutting/ carving/ putting pieces of wood together to make something.
But I really want that workshop so I'm trying my best.
To answer your questions on if i carved the feet myself or not, I did and it took me forever too ~ and I designed the table from scratch and just used a bunch of drawings to try to get the proportions right was all some very good guesstimation~kakaka
Not too shortly I will be making some nice dining chairs to go with it, maybe some Chippendale cabriole ball and claw feet on them too. But i want the main focus to be the dining table so I'm also wondering if i should make the chairs not so detailed and nice so they don't draw too much attention away from the table. Advice on what all you guys think about this would be much appreciated.
Oh yeah~ I go to Epping Boys High School in Sydney and its one of the best government schools to do woodwork in I've heard. BUT being a government school there are a LOT of RESTRICTIONS on what power tools students are allowed to use: no table saw, no radial arm saw, no other 240 tools without teacher supervision. This did get to me sometimes as my teacher, even though he never let us, told the class everything about safety using the machinery we had at school so we were all capable of using the machines safel (in my opinion.. maybe except a few guys that are a bit.. umm dangerous to be around in the workshop.. lol~ )
At private schools such as The King's School here they use whatever machinery they want but I guess their parents are just paying more money so their children have more chance to lose one of their fingers or more. (hahaha those words taken straight from my teachers mouth )
Well thanks again for being so supportive all of you.
Hoping to learn alot from reading the info on the forum and directly from you guys.If your best isn't good enough, make your best better.

Thanks

Great job awesome table, but as far as the chairs i think go a realy nice arts and crafts look with some through tenons so you have a bit of detail but not to much as to take away from the table, nice smooth lines so it is pleasant to the eye I think that ball and claw feet would look a bit much if you want the emphesis on the table, good luck I am sure it will look great what ever you decide after seeing your work on the table.
Watch out he bites!

wow!
Well done young man.
Don't pass them by! Be daring and caring!
Dampen their misery....sit with them and talk a little.
Buy them something to eat and a tram fare to a local mission.
I'm so lucky that I've somewhere to live and have family support.

Looks great! Well done, i wish our squares were square too... My teacher doesnt know very much though and i think we should be allowed to use all the tools, we cant use the table saw which sucks because my teacher almost stuffed up my job again yesterday But great work i hope you get your shed and your job!
