Satinwood bookmatched table stainless frame
Hi All,
Here is a recent commission. Timber is satinwood and the two slabs are book-matched. The timber had several areas all different grain pattern and spectacular. The timber pieces on the frame legs are also from the same tree, cut at 70 degrees, same as frame angle, and bevelled both sides to show more grain. I have enough leftovers for other small projects, one of which will be a lasy susan for the table.
I cannot tell you how hard these two bits of timber fought me, (warping/finshing) but I won the war after losing battles on the way, but that's another story which I may share later (need time).
The finish is tung oil/resin floor product. Over 10 hand wiped applications were used to get a finish your could see your face in.
The frame is 80mm stainless which was outsourced because I have no gear for stainless welding. I amde a small timber mockup for the welder with plans.
Table looks great in their house.
cheers,
conwood

That is really nice, conwood. Superb.
Fantastic design, love the stainless with the satinwood, the bits on the side are design genius.
Is the tung oil/resin product your mix or an off the shelf product?
Anything over the tung/resin? Applied just wipe on/wipe off?
Thanks,
Tex

Love it, really really love it!
I think that the combination of wood and metal is fantastic and compliments each other.
Great job,
Alex.

I really like the detail of having the timber between the legs. Nice work.

Magnificent Conwood . A very modern piece and as others have said the timber feature in the frame is a nice touch . How much did the stainless steel frame cost id you don't mind me asking
