    Default Shaker table

This is based on the plans out of 'Woodworking Magazine' , 'Thos Moser's Measured Shop Drawings' with a few variations of my own. I lapped the front rails, offset the tenons on aprons closer to the outside and cut full mortises. This is really the prototype. The top has a central panel of red cedar and the draw sides and base are Caloon(Brown Quandong). Made this for my own amusement so the whole thing was done by hand - flattening stock, thicknessing, mortises etcetera. (Not skiting just trying to demonstrate that with time and patience these results are possible, heh I trained as a vet)

Oh yes well done, and if this is not your trained vocation then I would certainly bring my dog to you.
Well that is if I had one and you weren't so bloody far away.

Forgot to mention that the rest of the table is northern silky oak that I scrounged last trip to Oz. I think the legs started as a door frame.

Excellent work. As was said above, beautiful dovetails on the drawer.

Hi Geoff, that's nice I like it a lot. I tried something similar (ish) with the attached but I prefer the amount of overlap on yours.

The dimensions on mine are 27" tall and 18"square on top. On the top the outer 2" have a bevel from 3/4" to 1/2". There is no reason why you couldn't trim your top and mitre and bevel a frame that could be attached to your top - maybe a contrasting wood??. Might be worth a try. The only reason I did my top this way is that I couldn't get a solid piece of cedar wide enough and also the cedar is rather soft.
I really like the shelf on your table and was considering adding this to mine but can't decide at what level to place it (also I would have to get some more northern silky sent over).
