    Default Latest Shed Developments

After many hours of thinking, sourcing info and costs, I have now decided on how to build the wood racks for my shed. I ended up buying three lots of the Triton wood racks. The first picture below shows the supports for the racks. 6 of 38 x 75 hardwood, bolted to the wall into the supporting frame in three places. The woodracks will screw into these studs, into the the top half, leaving the space beneath for the slabs to be racked. I may even see if I can build in a ladder, the type used to roll along in front of tall library shelves so I can reach the top two shelves. Hmmm, Wendy's Wood Libray

The second development is that I now have my Jet filtration unit hung up and running.

Fantastic stuff Next will be a new workbench to attach the record 52 vise to. If I attach it to my existing bench, I think it would fall over

    cheers
    Wendy

I like the Ruffly Rustic sign haning up on the end there. What's the story of the sign?

    Nice rack too.

Thanks Zen I like my racks too, all three of them

The RR sign/rack was a rustic version made from roofing hooks, rawhide, teak letters and half a flame sheoak log, finished with orange shellac in honour of my preference for shellac. My dear woodworking and restoration friends, Adrian and his niece Deanna, made it as a Christmas Gift for me. As you can see, it hangs in pride of place in my shed

    cheers

    Hi Wendy,

Looking good. We will be expecting the 'after' photos of course, by Sunday night OK.

You have a bit of work on that To Do list of yours. Hope you will have time to do a WIP for your new workbench and vice fitting. That will be interesting, as always. (can't read too many bench builds you know).

All the best with the tasks ahead Wendy. Hope your shed has some heating, gets pretty chilly there as I recall.

    Cheers,
    Pops

    Hi Pops,
I'm halfway through putting up the wood racks. Taking it slow and steady, making sure they are verical, level and parallel. Sigh! Give me 'squiggles' any day I'm on track for finished fotos tomorrow night.

HWMNBO surprised me with a SuperCheap compressor, nail & staplegun special today, even unpacked it, set it up and showed me how to use it! What a hubby!!
Gee, imagine what might appear in my shed tomorrow when I get all my timber out of his shed The To-Do list just keeps getting longer and longer. I've just added an enclosure for the compressor and future (better) dust extractor&cyclone.

    A WIP? totally agree.

Artme - Yes, insulation, a music centre, firstaid box on the wall, hardhat, fireblanket, fire extinguisher, but no fridge or coffee maker. I don't like sawdust in my coffee, it doesn't make a good sugar replacement

The insulation makes a huge difference. It was 16 degrees C in there at 4 pm, but dropped to 12 degreees by 6pm. No potbelly though as it would take up too much room. I just sit near the roller door, or do some handsanding to warm up.

    cheers
    Wendy
