    Smile Shed/Garage Progress..

    G'day all,
Things are moving along nicely - though the actual structure hasn't arrived as yet - (16 days from Melbourne to Hobart's a bit rich).
Had to re-box for the slab as the 150 x 25 treated crapiata I used warped and buckled so badly it pulled the pegs out of the ground.
Went out and bought some long lengths of 150 x 50 r/s Oregon which is a lot better. Used pryda gangnails to hold it all together.
Dug the pads to 450 x 450 x 600 deep (down to bedrock - this sucker's goin' nowhere).
Laid the moisture membrane and mesh today.
Concreter coming Wednesday to check it out and will probably pour on Friday.
    Cheers...to be continued

Pic 1 is the hired help (6 choccy biscuits and 3 red cordials per day) training on a piece of my precious king billy. Grandson Jack (just turned 4). Note the braces. They hold his own leather toolbelt with hammer, chalkline and folding rule.

    The rest are self explanatory.

Sheddy, just wondering, how big is the shed and I'm guessing by the need for the footing, Portal frame design?
I put up a 6mx6m at my old house and I enjoyed every minute of it (except gashing my hand cutting the end gables of the wall sheets )
Have a nice day - Cheers

G'day Butch. Gotta watch those sharp edges mate. The Garage / Shed is 9m x 7.5m X 2.7m walls. Its a Total Span Shed and the engineering drwgs specified 450 x 450 x 200 pads under each load bearing post. If that's Portal frame design I've answered your question. I went 600mm deep, well, cos I could. Its on very stable ancient sand dunes overlaying sandstone bedrock. The slab will be reinforced 150mm thick. Why? Again, cos I could. When I eventually get some machinery I'll bolt it to the slab and there they'll stay.

Mate, the council said I had to make my house 5 squares bigger in return for approval to put up a shed this size. Got the builders quote the other day..:eek::eek::eek:105K:eek::eek::eek: so unless they build the extension out of papier mache I'm just gonna have to make do!!
Anyway SWMBOAAT doesn't know yet but my 4x4 will never see the inside of it.. That'll give me another 3.5m X 7.5M hehehehe. Can't wait. I only have about 30sqm at the moment in the old blue shed. I'll have almost 50 in the new one.

Do you have water and sewer in there too? If you're ever gonna be in the doghouse you may as well be comfortable...

Water yes, bog no. I'd rather use the space for a DC than a CC.
Doghouse for me is the couch (and that worries her more than me).

    Default Update Feb 9

    Shed slab going down saturday.

Met the builders who my architect recommended today. Seem good blokes. Met them on site of one of their jobs. Didn't seem concerned when I said they were way over my budget with the estimate - like 30% over.

Removed our very dodgy carport today . Stuffed if I know how it stayed up. Held togerther by 65mm galv f/h nails. When I removed gthe Custom orb it started to sway dangerously (while I was on top) . No wonder they (previous owners) didn't seek approval for it .

Anyway getting rid of it (sold to brother for 500 bucks) saves us another 500 bucks for a concrete pump.

I reckon SWMBOATT will let me spend the grand on a new machine - NOT -
    Cheers

    Default The big day..

The big day has dawned. Up with the far ting of the sparrows -6 bloody 30 to greet the slab artistes.

First truck of concrete (I was careful to refer to the mud as concrete not cement) arrives at 7.00am. Second truck arrives at about 9.30 or so.
Bug ger, 0.2 m3 short. Not my fault get extra delivered by a truck heading somewhere else...no charge (saved 200 bucks). Finish the pour float off. Wait 2 hours or so for it to go off and 3 times over it with the whirlybird.
Brilliant job you could play snooker on it. Guys don't want recommendations because they have too much work. The fence behind the big guy (the barrow boy) is 6 ft 6in high.. Been eatin' his weeties. The Boss is the Short ar se with hands in pockets. The real boss, however is, the one with bumps on the front.

Now I feel as though I'm getting a new shed.

Start erection (of shed) in a fornight SIL on call next weekend.... Delivery by next wednesday with luck. more pics next post...

    Cheers

The slab looks great Shedhand! At least your shed is going to turn up. My old man bought a shed off Quick Sheds in QLD and the bloke did a runner with his money ( and a lot of other peoples ).

Was great that the Concrete Co. got you that bit extra concrete for $200 bucks off. Well Done!
