Sofa table
I built this sofa table as part of my review of the LV BU Jointer plane (the article will hopefully be ready in a couple of weeks time).
My aim was to try and use the BUJ for as many tasks as possible. It was supplemented for construction and finish, however, with a card scraper and a spokeshave. I did have the use of a tenon saw, mortise chisel and shoulder plane for the M&T joints.
All my timber begins life as salvage. I do use a tablesaw and bandsaw to dimension it, then finish it with handplanes.
Here is the Blackbutt frame/legs starting off as a ex-roof column.

Gad, Blackbutt is a 'orrible timber to handplane! Lots of reversing grain and it was hard-as-nails.
The Jarrah tabletop was an ex-floorboard.
Finished in oil and wax:

Very nice piece Derek! Proof that excellent result's can had for those well versed in the Darkside methods. Put's my darkside methods (which are very limited) to shame............should be an inspiration to all..

A beautiful little table, with a light feel to it...strange, considering the timbers used!
