A Watch Box
I made this about 6 years ago, for a guy from Channel 10 in Sydney. He'd seen some of my work and sought me out. (blush, blush)
Anyway, he wanted something fairly ritzy and fortunately I had some nice timber at the tIme.
The box is about (from memory) 800-900mm(l) x 125-135mm (h) and about 200mm (w)
The carcass is some beautiful fiddleback Jarrah as is the lid panel. The lid border is some pretty Fiddleback Blackwood.
I used quadrant hinges from J Brown Antiques in Glenburn Victoria. The finish is Hard Burnishing Oil taken up from 400g to 4000g
(with lower grits used first to ensure a smooth transition in finish quality).Box_open_1.jpgThe dividers are some Birdseye Huon, though it's hard to tell from this angle and the box is held closed with some rare earth magnets.
Regards,
Rob
