WIP ...Finished
And ready for delivery. 3 of an order of 12.
Made using recycled Rimu, Kauri, and Macrocarpa.
Bases and struts from Rimu & Kauri, frames are Macrocarpa and knobs are Tawa.
Done in a semi antiqued style rather than the more modernist style and color currently found in most art shops.Dust Mite...Terrorising noses for the discerning...

Terrific looking and well made. I like the timber particularly. Well done....9 to go .
If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.

They look pretty good Dustmite . How do you find the recycled Rimu . I once made some kitchen cupboard doors in Rimu . Worst thing I ever did . Lovely looking timber but moves more than Pinus Crapiarta.
PeterI've just become an optimist . Iv'e made a 25 year plan -oopps I've had a few birthdays - better make that a 20 year plan

I use the Rimu and Kauri for the bases as its hard and durable and is reasonably weighty.
I use macrocarpa and kauri for the frames and shelf. The knobs are from Bunnies and made from NZ Tawa, pre-sanded and all I have to do is stain them.
The recycled Rimu is good to work with both for color and grain. I have found that it needs to be bone dry if you use it in cabinets and well sealed. Plus the only way to use it is pre drill and solid glue and screw. If doing M&T I generally you a pin dowel through the joint as Rimu will "walk" if you let it. Thats why so many old 50's era house have not level floors and wall.
Oh yeah almost forgot, you need a dust mask when working Rimu or you wind up sneezing yah eyeballs outDust Mite...Terrorising noses for the discerning...
