    Default Jig plan needed.

    Hi everyone,

I keep bees, and one of the jobs from time to time is wiring bee frames. To get the tension right, and keep the frames square, a jig is needed. I can buy one for $85, but they look simple to make, if I could get a plan. I've searched the net, but can't find anything. Are there any other woodies who, like me, also keep bees?

    Thanks,

    Joe

    Joe,
    I don't quite understand what you're after...
Are you building new frames or stretching wires through existing ones?
My dad used to string the wire by hand, and then 'crimp' the wire to tension...used to work really well...
Can you post a photo of the issue you're having? If there was a jig to be made (instead of bought) my old man would've done it! Ha ha...

    Default Jig

Thanks for the reply. The only image I can find is this:

In the upper picture there's a frame being held securely, and the wire if fed in from a spool on the right. On the jig, which is similar to one I have seen, there's a mechanism for tightening the wire.

It's that kind of jig I'm looking for.

    Cheers,

    Joe

    Default Jig

    Hi again,

It looks like the image didn't transmit. I'll try and find another.

    Joe,
Send the photo (or a link to a webpage if that's what you've got) either by pm or to i_gray at yahoo dot com
    Cheers
