Default 9kg gas cylander tap stuck

Recently had a 9kg gas cylinder refilled at a licensed filling station and now the tap will not open to release gas.
I can unscrew the tap all the way open , but still no gas out. Tried a gentle tap with a small hammer. Still nothing.
Any good ideas from fellow forum members.
    Cheers, Fred

I doubt there’s much option other than to return it. Chances are the guy who filled it had too heavy a hand on the thing and stuffed it for you. Unless, of course, you have one of those new valves on the tank which aren’t supposed to release gas until an appliance is attached.

sounds likely cause. Or the tank is empty but should be able to tell by the weight.

    Thank you ErrolFlynn and Pete57,
I have sorted it now with the Swap&go mob.

Don't know. The agent just swapped for another full bottle.

You probably got an empty one by mistake. Good of them to swap it for you. They might have turned you down saying you’ve used it. Though, the date on the receipt would have been a clue.

I picked one up last week. I’m rather new to the gas bottle swap system. I was looking at the Bunnings customer review website. The one-star rating, in particular. There were complaints about replacement bottles being expired. That could be a customer problem – not knowing what to look for. Also, damaged threads – that’s bad. I can see that I’m going to have to be careful in what I pick up.

I’ve got a Kwik-Gas bottle (here in NSW). A leftover from someone else. I hear that Kwik-Gas (Kleenheat) now only operate in WA and NT. Just as well most distribution points take any company's bottles in exchange.
