Thread: Fisher & Paykel Washer (IW709) Error Codes

Have had to take out the wing nut and agitator from ours for the same waxy buildup - an absolute mongrel bi**h to remove - tried lots of cleaners and brushes etc - final solution was the Karcher pressure spray [carefully].
When finally cleaned reassembled and now we run a cup of vinegar every second week - not sure if this wasn't the real cause - we now no longer use that softner cr*p - this I suspect was the major culprit.
It has not been all that long since I did it but it appears to be much better - I'm keeping an eye on it.

Your suspicions are correct , it is the fabric softener causing that waxy buildup.
Instead of using fabric softener use white vinegar instead. Your clothes will not smell of vinegar, they are just as soft and the machine stays nice and clean. Another bonus is that white vinegar is a lot cheaper than fabric softener. We have been using vinegar for over 12 months now with no problems.

You can buy cleaning vinegar which is much cheaper than the culinary variety, at the supermarket.

I have a gwl10. that is not spinning dry and clothes in the very bottom are wet. I tried to get in fault mode but not sure how. power on I hold the spin up/down button but nothing happens.

Does your swmbo wear under wire bras?They have a a bad habit of letting the wire go ,result one blocked pump!

Well, its now been a little over 12 months and I've just had a look down the "hole" where the detergent and formally the softener used to go.

Result == clean as the proverbial whistle - no waxy build up or any other stuff - just clean.

We did take the Sprog's advice -

and he is spot on.

Hello Folks, I’m from Melbourne Oz. It would be great if there were someone who would be able to tell me how to identify, specifically, which part of the motor-controller board, I’d need to replace (as in resistor, diode, integrated circuit, or transistor) so I could get my washing machine to run from beginning to end without a hitch. I’ve been told at another forum, that’s the electronic board which is causing the hassle. We just replaced our 30 year old Whirlpool dryer - things just ain't made to last.

been there and done that myself not too long ago and what I learned from it .....fancy timers and gadgits dont wash or dry your clothes any quicker ...one small power spike and the chipset is fried .....replacement cost ? almost as much as you paid for the machine...including labour/gst etc
best time to buy them....end of june ...and if you shop around and negotiate a package deal .....washer and drier etc
I usually go into david jones ....pick out the one I want and ask for discount ...when told " there isnt much markup on white goods xxxx is the best I can do"...I then say ....well I am here to buy xxxxxxxxx....so maybe you could sharpen your pencil a bit more and make a sale ....or I go into myers and they get my business ...either way I am going to leave happy and with a machine today!

it has not failed yet ....I get the machine at a good price, delivery fee of $50 waived .....and delivered that afternoon
