My brother did many years ago.
Could not eat bacon afterwards.

Yep I had the three f's (forty, fat & female:eek: ) op 3 1/2 years ago, due to diseased gall bladder, bilary tube and pancreas issues. The foods to watch out for apparently differ from person to person, but start off afterwards gentle and experiment with your diet, you'll know when it doesn't agree, results are a bit like eating mexican in mexico, really what we should have done was watch out for those sorta foods well before it got to this
Op's a snack (intentional pun) in & out, I also had a bit of exploratory due to the pancreas thingy and I was still only in for o'night, bloody great to get rid of that goodawful crippling pain, still get touches of it occassionally but nowhere near the intensity or duration. Have fun Dazzler it is certainly not worth worrying about.Bruce C.
catchy catchphrase needed here, apply in writing to the above .

There is nothing too worry about, at the worst I was a bit tender for a few days and had to restrict movement, bending, lifting and the like common sense stuff.savage(Eric)

I can't offer any dos or don'ts I'm afraid. My father had his out about ten years ago and as far as I can tell, hasn't looked back. He's certainly fit, healthy and bloody annoying now.
Cheers

I had mine out a while back, didn't seem to change anything. SWMBO had hers out and seems to have problems with fatty foods. I don't think there's a clear cut answer. After you're done you are what you are.
I'm not young enough to know it all!

My Dad had his out 30 years ago, big scar, a week in hospital and 4-6 weeks off work. He had some issues with fatty foods but nothing too serious
A friend had hers out earlier this year, keyhole surgery, o/night stay, back to work the next day and no problems with food.If I do not clearly express what I mean, it is either for the reason that having no conversational powers, I cannot express what I mean, or that having no meaning, I do not mean what I fail to express. Which, to the best of my belief, is not the case.

My grandmother (89) had hers out three weeks ago today. Keyhole surgery, two days in hospital. Just has to watch the diet, as everyone else has said, fatty foods are not good. Thats what the gall bladder does, it helps the break down of fat. All it means is yourt liver will have to work a bit harder, no big deal.
Boring signature time again!

SWMBO, daughter & I have all had it done.
No problems now with what we eat, but a friend still can't eat rich foods.
I had a problem with a dislodged stone that was blocking the bile duct. Went in to have it crushed before the GB was removed by keyhole surgery, but crushing went wrong & had to have an emergency op to remove stone & GB. Big scar, but felt fine. After 4 weeks recovery, went to have drain removed. This released blocked infection, straight back to hospital. (This may have put the people waiting to see the doctor off, as I walked into his surgery and went out on an ambulance stretcher. )
Despite all these problems, the system worked and when something went wrong, the backup was there. The things that went wrong were unavoidable IMHO. Since it was fixed, I've had no problems.

I had my gall bladder removed because of stones 3 or 4 years ago. Also a keyhole operation, went back to work 3 days later. Never looked back, no special diet needs whatsoever.
