If I were God for a day I would eliminate Facebook and mobile phones as soon as I woke up on the first morning.
    Now there's a good idea!

We could try and get them to move to Russia but I don't think they would buy it.

Planet America is probably the least overtly left show on the abc n&ca. This week they did a bit on partisanship. It's well worth watching, various repeats through the week.

Sometimes they are even a bit funny...

    There, fixed that for you.

Queensland is a forsaken shithole. Good for all the Hansonites.

If I were a god, I'd encourage all people to care for their environment. Tree planting days, recycling as a conscious action, reduction of overuse of all things and public knowledge of science.

I, as a god, would eliminate religion.

Interesting that all the violence at the last election was from the left.

Many years ago a left leaning colleague at work came in all excited to tell us about a talk he'd been to the night before. This bloke had been around preaching the good word about all this eco stuff he did. The gentleman had a pamphlet with a list of all the rituals for the faithful. I looked at him bewildered and pointed out I did about 2/3 and my neighbours did the rest (I couldn't actually do a couple of things because of the design of my house, can't remember the details). Only I don't do that to pay homage to the eco gods, I do it to save money.

I've planted literally hundreds of trees in my back yard that I grew from seed and have my neighbours permission to plant more in theirs now I've run out of room. Not doing it to save the planet I'm trying to out compete the cat's claw that's strangling everything. I manage to put one shopping bag of rubbish in the wheelie bin each week. Everything organic gets composted.

As for "public knowledge of science" ? Are we keeping secrets ?

While you are doing away with religion will you be making sure environmentalism goes ? and how are you planning to replace all the charity work churches do ? Government department perhaps ?

This is why I'd like to separate the left and right from mainstream society. It would be amusing to see the extremists locked in a jurisdiction together and face the reality of their ideas... It amazes me how little regard people have for those who disagree with them these days, especially since I'm right and the rest of you have no clue....

That's the thing I'd like to ban.

I started typing a response to some of the ideas mentioned (mainly the ones that are economically/logistically ridiculous), then I realised that I don't know nearly enough about them to have a useful/defensible opinion so I decided to shut up.

If I was God, I wouldn't change a thing. Life is work and if God was to fix things for us, what would be the purpose of life? I can accept that we may go the way of the dodo just as the dinosaurs did. If fighting this means pursuing no reason for life itself, then I say let things be and see what happens.

Been saying this for years. I have no time for extremes. Extreme left, extreme right...both burning from different ends of the same damn candle.

I have also been saying I am right and the rest of you have no clue.... maybe we hear the same voices

    God for a day?

Dunno. Not sure I’m qualified, or interested. A lot of what was originally posted struck chords with me, but, some of the realities of achieving those things make them either not doable or a long bow.

Shiny Seats. Advisors are a necessary thing, but man some of those jokers are being paid a lot of money to make stuff up as they go along. Bring them and politicians to account and hold them responsible would be good. A lot of the government consultants, who are charging themselves out $1000 - $2000 a DAY for their services, are not held to account or responsible for their advice. I have had a bucket of this stuff come over my desk of late. I’m not so sure these dudes and dudettes are giving me, value from the dollars I put into the system. I like to get value from my expenditure. I spent 8 years with a partner who bled the system at various levels of consultancy. Just played to the allowable rules of play. Didn’t do anything wrong I might add, but I found it a bit vile.

4 years terms of government and all voting happening on that one day would be a great cost reducer. Serve your term or bear the cost of the by election. A note from mum is not going to work here.

    cheers

You should continue to hold such views. It’s not very nice, really!
