    Default How old are you

Got this today , oldie but true
Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we're kids? If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about aging that you think in fractions.

"How old are you?" "I'm four and a half!" You're never thirty-six and a half. You're four and a half, going on five! That's the key

You get into your teens, now they can't hold you back. You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead.

"How old are you?" "I'm gonna be 16!" You could be 13, but hey, you're gonna be 16! And then the greatest day of your life . . You become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony . YOU BECOME 21. YESSSS!!!

But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk! He TURNED; we had to throw him out. There's no fun now, you're Just a sour-dumpling. What's wrong? What's changed?

You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you're PUSHING 40. Whoa! Put on the brakes, it's all slipping away. Before you know it, you REACH 50 and your dreams are gone.

    But wait!!!
You MAKE it to 60. You didn't think you would!

So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60.

You've built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it's a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday!

You get into your 80's and every day is a complete cycle; you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30 ; you REACH bedtime. And it doesn't end there. Into the 90s, you start going backwards; "I Was JUST 92."

Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. "I'm 100 and a half!"
May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!

When your young the years seem to take an eternity to pass. Getting from 4 to 5 took so long you had to put a halfway point in between. From 20 to 30 the years are of no consequence, because your having too much fun.
Then get to the 40's and they seem to be speeding up at an alarming rate.
I asked my old man the last time I saw him, how fast the years were going for him at almost 70, all he said was "they're going pretty quick"

It would be nice to be able to slow things down a bit, it seems in todays busy environment, we are too busy to stop and smell the roses.

Maybe the secret is to live a much simpler life, who knows??

Make everything as boring as possible. (Dunbar's idea from Catch-22)
Wait for things to happen, don't make them happen, and you'll find every day is an eternity. Watch the pot trying to get to the boil without a lid, sit by the phone waiting for it to ring from that beautiful person you knew 20 years ago....that sort of thing

    whats up with you guys,
    impending midlife crisis?
I actually like being in my late 40's
Dont have to worry too much about a little weight gain.(or other young female obsessions)
dont have to "proove " myself in the workplace.
Have more time to do my own thing.
In 7 years can retire in basic comfort and kids will be old enough to look after themselves for a week or two.
Its all a matter of philosophy, if I make it long enough for my kids to cope alone, Ive had a great life.

I feel very sorry for the women I see desperately " tending the temple" in and attempt to hold back time.
Grow olds graciously is what I say

51 soon to be 52 very soon but who's cares 100 is a long way off I'm just over half way there.

Considering I was told by medico's I'd be dead by 15 and 21 never work, have no kids. guess I showed them a thing or two.

Although I have accomplished much life still has more for me to do. I still have more to give and more of myself to share around a growing family.

Put on this earth for a reason obviously jobs not finished yet.

    .
When I turned (reached) 30, I knew lots of blokes who were 60.
When I turned 40, I knew quite a few people who were 80.
When I turned 50, I knew of one or two who were 100.
    Now I'm over 60, I sure as hell don't know Anyone who's 120,
so I figure I must be over half way!
It might be a long way off but life is going faster by the minute.
When I was at school, the Christmas holidays lasted for ever, now I get to drive to work without traffic jams for what seems only a couple of weeks.
    Cheers

Speaking of age. At what age is it that you stop "falling over" and instead "have a fall"?
Kids fall over and old people have a fall.
You know you are old when your relatives tell you that you have had a fall.
