Default ICAC - Im lovin it!

I am seriously loving the NSW ICAC process at the moment. It is showing just how deeply our pollies have their snouts in the cookie jar. Both flavours of "L" appear as crook as each other which is what I have suspected for years. Politics is a difficult grubby, game, I guess it takes a certain type

Yep, they've claimed a few scalps, starting at the top and working their way down. Nothing has been quite as good as Rocky Whatshisface last year though. That was magic!

I'm currently working with the government on a specific project, and ICAC is regularly mentioned as a bogeyman to get everyone to behave in the right way and ensure things are done properly with no fear or favour. I think it is having a very positive effect, and getting rid of the grubby snouts-in-trough pollies can only be a good thing, regardless of which side of the divide they are on...

Rudd, at the Royal Commission this morning:
"I have no particular recollection of that/him".

Not quite sure how adding "particular" (on at least 15 occasions) differs from "no recollection". Ya either recall, or you don't. In effect what he's saying is that he does actually recall, just not particularly.

Dose that mean he doesn't mean what he says or that he doesn't say what he means?

Not quite Hugh - it means he doesn't particularly mean what he says.

I'm enjoying the ICAC show as well, but am questioning it's effectiveness. Barry lied under oath, so he quit as Premier, but is now on the backbench.

Were is the legal ramifications? Why hasn't he been arrested and indicted for purgury? Why hasn't any of the Red or Blue team been jailed for corrupt activities?

From what I am seeing, they lie, cheat and steal from us and all that happens they lose their cushy job, stay in parliament on squillions and wander off into the sunset with their super.

For my mind, ICAC, proves that they have committed indictable offense, then the Supreme Court can sentence them to 30 years hard labour. Easy way to discourage pollies from playing up.

It ain't over yet Pat, and not by a long way I should think. There a few that share a surname that will be lucky to be at large by this time next year.

I felt sorry for Nick Greiner for setting up ICAC initially and in no time at all ICAC kicked him out. Seems like a "shot in the foot" case to me.

With the budget being top topic in the news the last couple of days with talk of huge public service layoffs to save money.....what about the cost of the Gonsky Report. How much money did Labor pay for the report that was dumped by the Libs as soon as they took power? Waste!!!! Yeh it was our money wasted all right.
    Just do it!

    Kind regards Rod

That remined me of a Fedral Senate inquiry....

Kerry Packer to the inquiry "I pay all the tax I'm legaly obliged to pay. If I paid anymore you would only waste it."

Lying is becoming an art form. Not only in politics but also in business. Salesmen lie, Marketers lie, Builders lie, The media lies, Retailers lie, Stockbrokers lie, Police lie and the list goes on. But when a brain dead politician lies we get all uppity about it. What else should we expect?

Im very interested in the "I dont recollect" line. Truth be told there is a lot I dont recollect as well. Pollies would meet dozens of people every day so it is a reasonable defence on events of 2 weeks ago IMO. Unless they diarise everything, Monica Lewinsky style of course.

There is a media circus around this whole business that's is about as endearing as a pack of sharks circling a school of fish. The theatre is more interesting than the events sometimes. We definitely need a federal version of ICAC. When the PM gets trolled for winking we need something to give the press gallery to do. They are getting bored, poor possums...
