If you're thinking of self propelled, then how is the Honda too heavy?

By the way, the Honda is what I would recommend.

FIL has 2, Mate has 1, I have a non self propelled 1. Honda 4 stroke is the way to go.

Edit. I also have a Honda brushcutter and garden tiller, both of which are 4 stroke. If I can possibly avoid it, I will never buy another 2 stroke.

Absolutly agree Honda is the way to go, Ihave mower and brushcutter

my wife reckons the honda is to heavy to turn around when you come to an end of a run
i am quite happy about the honda as the weight doesnt affect me (wife is 4ft 111/2 high and 55 kgs ringing wet)
she has found a new mower on the scene that we are going to look at ,its a rover self propelled with a honda motor on it, aluminium base and looks heaps better than the victa and $500 dollars cheaper than the honda
so hopefully i will get the honda features and not the weight issue the wife doesnt like

Greg, I went down the same path that you are thinking of. We had previously had a Honda that was about 8 yrs old when it was given to us by PIL. We had it for about 8 yrs before we decided to upgrade.

We bought a cheaper mower with a Honda engine that was about $250 cheaper than the Honda. After using it once I had huge misgivings, and after using the second time I was almost crying. It wasn't a Rover that I had.

I went back to the place that sold it and expressed all my reservations, and as they couldn't resolve a couple of them, rather than have an unhappy customer, they gave me a full refund and I went elsewhere and bought a Honda mower.

I couldn't buy from them as was my wish, as they didn't have a Honda dealership. I also offered to only take as much money in a refund as what they could get selling it as a "demo model", but they were happy to give a full refund.

As a consequence, they have all my repair and parts business, and I am happy to recommend them to anyone. (just not the mower they sell )

First rule. ( as you well know ) keep her happy let her think she made the decision on what to buy
Second Rule . Get something she can use and encourage her to do so
BTW mate havent seen the new place yet so how much grass is there ( is it possable to do like I did and concrete over it

she bought a victa key start,power drive and 2 stroke and yep russell susie was happy and that was all that matters
we looked at the rover and yep it was a heap of rubish
