    Default Defunct KÁrcher

I have a Kárcher pressure cleaner that is now defunct, has been for some time.

It's not worth repairing the pump as it will be too damned costly.

Does anyone have any idea about the motors in these??

I'm thinking about pulling the motor out and putting it to another use.

What's wrong with the pump ?

Mine was leaking pump lubricant and slow to start pressurizing/activating so it needed surgery. I had to invest in a longish torx driver for removing the outer yellow shell but everyting else was fairly simple.

    Question

My understanding, from 2 different sources, is that the pump is stuffed and is very costly to repair or replace.

Perhaps I should pull it apart myself and check things out.

It does leak oil but seems to have other problems also.

Just fixed a Karcher and a Karcher clone - both given me for parts. Only thing wrong were split 'O' rings on the intake fitting (if water is leaking the pump will not get the full head of water it requires and will 'hunt' ie. keep cutting in and out) so people think they are dead.
Don't let a p/washer get frosted or they really are dead, pump casing splits and is good only for the scrap man. DAMHIK

My Karcher started playing up during my huge shed cleanup over Christmas. It keeps throwing the circuit breaker as soon as I turn it on. Would there be anything common to look for when I take it apart?

    Thanks!

Up to about nine years ago I operated a pressure cleaner that regularly tripped C/B on starting. The fix was to have water running through the machine (with spray valve open) before turning on. Hose tap valve was only on about a quarter of a turn.

Boss took the machine home and could not get it work!

I inherited a Karcher, previous owner had problems when he let the handle go (stop the water) something happened (presure relief?) so the solution was to permanently zip tie the handle open and this is how I have left it, twice so far the capacitor has failed in use, the motor just stops and then hummms like it's trying to go but it won't, replaced the capacitor and away it goes

    Thumbs down No news

Well, as is usually the case, other things have taken priority so I have not
even given another thought to this little project.
