The bloke the VIC POLICE FORCE, ( brutal enough Dan? ) caught from Ballarat, said he hadnt used for months.

Whether he was telling the truth or not is another matter.

We get random alcohol/drug tests at work and were told that marijuana can be detected six weeks after using it. And if it's detected then you have some explaining to do.

If you get some second hand smoke, or a bunger when your ****** one friday night, a few days.

Although, I'm much more comfortable with people driving on Pot than drunk. Their reactions may be slower but they are usually driving a lot slower as well.
(Just not driving when my kids are playing outside)
(I tend to lose all my liberal tendencies when it comes to my kids)

That is correct. Out here on the rigs if you even pop a hay fever tablet the day before your crew change you have alot of explaining to do. Youre on the next chopper back to sure for a second test.

My feelings on drug testing in the oil business....its a good thing. I still cringe when I remember the days when youd see things like a stoned derrickman trying to rope in pipe while dangling off a monkey board 40m up in a derrick....

Drug testing does have a downside however.... a lot of people wo face regular testing are turning to "harder" drugs like speed which clear from the body alot quicker than marijuana.

There was a test carried out a while back where they set up a test circuit and had a driver complete the same test under the following conditions.

Stone cold sober, after just a few drinks, without sleep for a day, and after smoking some pot.

The results showed that he performed considerably better after smoking the pot.
Road positioning, manoeuvers, reaction etc all much bettter.
The worst results came from lack of sleep.
Maybe we should all smoke joints and drive and become better drivers

They tested ONE driver?? Hardly a conclusive study IMO.

12-24hrs is how long it takes for the swab test to show a negative result... depending on how long your body takes metabolize it and how much youve used.
The blood type test is months, hangs in your fat and hair apparently.
We just had it brought in at work "D&A policy", which I thought was ironic because its zero tollerance towards drugs but your allowed .02 BAL... HELLO inst alcohol a drug?
Dam and I thought driving the cranes at work while stoned was like the coolest huge nintendo ever... Im kidding!

Apparently some medical conditions can give a low false positive result.

One company I contracted for had a rather novel approach to random drug testing.....wed rock up to the chopper base and be asked to put our hand into a bag and select a marble. If you got a black marble you were herded off to the drug testing room. I was starting to wonder why everyone was getting picked...turned out ALL the marbles in the bag were black!

Worst thing about the drug testing with this company was the way the drug tester handed you a huge 500ml beaker and told you to fill the thing. After busting your nuts to fill the beaker you proudly gave the thing back to the tester who then took about 30mls to fill his tiny little phials and then gave the beaker back and told you to empty it down the loo.

If you smoke dope, drink a bottle of scotch and go without sleep for a week you might be able to drive as well as the country drivers around Port Macquarie.
I never realised why they said that country people have a much greater chance of dying in a smash until I moved out of the city.

And don't eat poppy seed rolls, they show an opiate residue on testing.
