I think a little ventilation to mitigate the buildup of volatile hydrocarbon fumes would be a plan.
Particularly when said containers are under your house.
One good static spark and you will be on your way to join the NASA Rovers on Mars.

Gutted fridges make ideal meat smoking cabinets, charcutiere.

I am a great believer in recycling old fridges into storage cabinets. In one workshop I have 3 fridges, 1 holds all the fittings and accessories for power tools. 2 holds all consumables used in the workshop. 3 holds some special tools, rarely used but much needed. Always clean and dry and dust free. In my other workshop I have 2 fridges. ! has heaps of paperwork etc that I need to keep. 2 has all my fishing reels, lines, soft plastics and other gear I don't want deteriorated by sunlight. Great storage options, don't throw them away chaps. PAUL.

Can be used as a drying kiln for small stuff too.

Forgot to mention old "bar fridges". Great for warming epoxy glue with 20 watt light bulb in the bottom, also good for keeping welding rods dry, if you have enough rods and the need. Had not thought of drying kiln , great idea. PAUL.

Stripped fridges and moved 'em under the house. Luckily where I pulled out water supply tube
and other bits holes were left that will allow the cabinet to breathe. Take note RV!.

The Amana ( Maytag ) Fridge that gave us so much grief is an object lesson in poor design. The radiator sits
right uner the bottom and only a couple of centimetres form the floor, Totally clogged again by dust and fluff.

ROBSON. Mentions "smoke houses". Great use for old fridges. There is heaps of info on the net about this subject. I use to have a cold smoker some years ago, until my wife developed into a vegetarian. Yes chaps she is still human. (just). As you might guess by now I am a bit of an enthusiast for the recycling of old fridges. I have had them on my truck as tool boxes, on my fishing boat as coolers and also storage. I get a bit PXXXXD off at seeing these great containers getting sent to the rubbish. O.K. Rant over. Sorry to hear bout poor design, Artme. PAUL.

A smoke house would require me to strip the inside of all plastic!!

Well, son and I got said carcases under the house and now to wash everything and use some
anti mould goo. Have to put the doors back on the Amana, as we took them off, as well as the
front door of the house, to get the damned thing to a movable size!

No need to strip inside of fridge for "cold smoker". Which is the "best" smoking. A hot smoker is different of course. Check the net for the type of smoker you prefer, they are very different. PAUL.
