    Default which security suite?

As its time to renew my subs for firewall etc whats the best choice? I use zonealarm at the moment but have probs with it at times.(mainly Skypeout)
The new laptop has norton suite with choice to update to 2007 Internet suite.
when it is purchased does it come with 12 month sub or is that extra?
What are the freeware types like? ie AVG and Sygate? Any other good choices out there other than pirated stuff?

I've had Norton Internet Security on mine for the last few years and haven't had any probs.

On new computors I think they come with a sixty day trial with the option to subscribe before the sixty days expire.

You can find out how long the sub runs for by opening Norton and clicking on subscription status

Im using an outdated copy of Panda antivirus with firewall, I will go with panda platinum when I update. Panda makes the others look stupid. Usually find it easily on ebay

I've dumped Norton 2006 as its become a resource hog. Looks like Gates must have shares in it...

I now use Zone Alarm Pro and AVG Free. Neither cause me any problems with Skype. I'm also trialling Ashampoo WinOptimizer Platinum 3. Looks good so far.

    I hate Nortons.

    Zonealarm (free)
    Spybot (free)
AVG Free or VET (about $85 up front & $42 a year after)

My personal choice is Black Ice. Run along with AdAware, Spybot & AVG Free I've had no problems. It's not free though.

I dislike "one suite does everything" type setups, as all it takes is one virus that's smart enough to knock out the proggie (eg. plenty of virii disable Nortons AV as the first step in infection! ) and you can kiss all your protection goodbye.
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

    Trend Micro PC Cillin.

You can get it on ebay, some are download versions for about $20 ! (they supply the registration key and you download direct from Trend Micro). I've bought 5 so far with no problems, all registered fine with 12 months of upgrades.
    check this.....

About 12 months ago I posed the same question and got about 3 pages of answers, all boiled down it came to .
If you are using someone elses money eTrust ( Vet )nternet security suite $125 or there abouts, and does it all.
If you want value AGV , Zonealarms & Spybot Free

I went with Vet on those recomendations and have no problems with advising anyone else to go the same way as it works very well.

Likewise as Gumby says Trend Micro. I had several issues with Zone alarm and since switching to Trend Micro no more problems.

I use ETrust, only the AV tho, 20 bucks per yr but I`ve been with for yrs.
I also use most of the others as well just to check that they do their job. I`ve had no probs with ETrust so far.
Heard that Nod32 is not bad either.
