Default Sick of trying with amazon

I have purchased many books from Amazon. Lately when I try, I am constantly told that they don't post to this region. has anyone ever had this problem? Now I shop at Abebooks with no problem.

    Is it just me?

They've definitely got some sort of glitch.

I recently had an order (24th April to be precise) which was to be sent in four parcels.

One was sent and arrived safely.
Two were sent the next day, but I had an email that one had been returned because it wasn't possible to deliver to my address, and if I wanted to know more I should contact the freight company!

I did point out that it really must be something beyond my control, but still had to re-order them (and they arrived safely to the same address).

The balance of the order has not been despatched, and I have approved the updated delivery time nearly 30 times now. Instead of saying it'll be another month, they just update a day at a time.

If I could get the same thing elsewhere easier, I would!

    Cheers,

    P

Got my last lot just after Xmas - took them about 4 1/2 months. Perhaps they use crappy distribution and got sick of the complaints rather than fixing the problem.

My last order was at the end of November last year & I had the books in time to post one to my Mum for Christmas.

    Haven't tried recently.

Amazon is brilliant. Order stuff off them all the time and never had a single glitch. That one-click ordering is very dangerous!
Those are my principles, and if you don't like them . . . well, I have others.

Maybe an obvious comment but is it Amazon or one of the sellers using the Amazon site that you have the beef with? My experience with Amazon is 12-14 day delivery no probs.

    Amazon.
Prior to this, never a problem.

I must say they've responded to my complaints, and have been very co-operative, but the constant update situation still goes on!

    Cheers,

I have placed two orders since Xmas, and both got to me in about a week. I can't say enough good about them, but that's in my experience. I haven't experienced the dark side.

"Returned undeliverable" is a problem with the Post Office employing innumerate or illiterate people - can't discriminate you know.

I have a P.O. Box and fairly regularly get other peoples mail, usually nearby box numbers, but sometimes for street addresses miles away and names that bear no resemblance to mine.

I know of businesses that have had shipments returned, and from the comments written on the boxes, they never got near the destination - in one case it didn't get to the southern hemisphere, the other made it to the same state but was held for 3 months by the wrong Post Office, then returned as 'undeliverable'.

At least we don't have to deal regularly with the UK's 'Parcel Force' aka 'Parcel Farce' who regularly demand exorbidant amounts of money to return shipments of goods that they haven't even tried to deliver.

My particular beef with Amazon are the books they list as 'in stock, dispatch within 24 hours' but when you order, somehow it takes 3-4 months for the books to be shipped - and the annoying emails.

    Amazon is great.

They deliver to here for free () and you pay when it gets to the door, usually in a day or two. Gotta love COD.

Just wish I had the money to buy some stuff.

There is the whole "I don't live in Australia right now" that causes this to be true that might explain something though.

I placed an order with Amazon US once, and they advised shipment in 3-4 months.

Visited UK site, same book was in stock, placed UK order, cancelled US order, and got book in one week.

How can a "company" use the same trading name and not trans-ship when a simple search reveals there is stock elsewhere.

Filled out the cancellation form and told them to pull their finger out!

Yeah the emails are annoying too.

We probably use Amazon every couple of months, never had a problem yet. The last three items were from affiliated sellers, all arrived same week, all good. We use them a lot for drop shipping Christmas gifts overseas too, the savings on shipping means we can afford to give a bigger gift.

One thing that puzzles me about the independent sellers is the low feedback ratings (<90%) that many seem to have. I won't buy unless the feedback is 98% or better, but so far that hasn't been a problem.

For awhile last year we were only getting delivery cards for packages, never any actual boxes. I had a polite word with the local manager and that got fixed (to my small surprise).

Now if they would just start shipping tools here there would be even more to like.

My wife does it in our place.
Must say that she seems to have lots of hassles because a lot do not want to send books to Australia. She seems to average one in three not arriving, but she is perservering with the orders. Maybe there are some still in transit, because some were only five months ago.

My last amazon US order was end of June, and while I was informed my 8 books were on back order for 3 months , amazon shipped them in 3 deliviries at no extra charge and I recieved my 1st package in 4 weeks and my last was within 7 weeks - all using the std freight option.
Their Service gets the thumbs up from me!

Not so with Aust post . When I get parcels they card them and send them in a random pattern to any of the 3 local post offices nearby, this means I could get lucky and the parcel will go to my local or it could end up at any other post office the parcel delivery van is visiting within a 10km radius of my house.
The other option is when they see the 2m high fence and the 2 boxer dogs, they push the parcel under the gap in the fence so the dogs have a box to chew until I get home.

BTW I live in inner city Brisbane so it should be a reliable and consistent postal service?!
