    Default Test driving may be on hold at Bundoora?

    This is what's left of a VY HSV Clubsport at the Watson Holden dealers in Bundoora (Victoria) after a 19 year old test drove it last
    week.

    He was driving it back and was going WAY too fast around the corner, up the gutter, travelled the 10 metres to the gates, and landed
    as you can see.

    Think this Holden dealership will re-think its company "test drive" policies!!!

    Under 25's and over 65 shouldn't be allowed to drive anything faster than a speed limited Hyundai Getz. IMHO The punk should have to pay for the car na d all the damage he caused...not that I have much sympathy for the stupid greedy dealer. :mad:

    yes it is a ripper, and some footage of it would be insane......however, it is at least a year old.

    Must be something about the area. I got pulled over for doing burn-outs in an EH, egged on by some drunk yokels as I was leaving rehearsal studios down the corner from that dealership.
    Made the rest of the trip home on a tow-truck .
    I was on my P plates, and lets just say I learned my lesson. Got the towie to drop me and the car off down the end of the street so the olds wouldn't know

    I'm pretty sure that new legislation is coming in QLD that limits poeple on P plates from driving high powered cars. Not just v8's even performance 4 cylinders! Bloody good idea.

    And yes, the kid should have to make some sort of remuneration to the dealer!!

    I disagree, that's why the dealer has insurance which covers all damage caused by a licensed driver when driving a car on a test drive. Responsible dealers will ofcourse take down the licence details of the drivers that they let test drive their cars.

    In that case sturdee he should at least be issued a traffic infringement for dangerous driving, driving with undue care and driving causing property damage. If it was real, in no circumstance should the driver be allowed to walk away with no punishment!

    If I remember correctly (from the Daimond Valley Leader story at the time) the young fellow goosed it a bit hard when turning across a lane in the wet... then panic took over.

    I have no problems with a driver who breaks the road laws being charged by the police but (in normal situations) when you are test driving a vehicle from a motor dealer and an accident happens then it is the problem of the dealer's insurance and not the driver.

    This test drive would have been just as expensive



    Story goes that some bloke had the $300k+ Ferrari out for a test drive (weekend loaner) and managed to lose it while taking off from the lights making a left turn. Rumor has it that he may have been drinking... Anyway, he wasn't expecting the traction control to kick in, and the car understeered into the pole...

    ouch. I can't imagine the look on the car dealer's face when he heard about that...
