Totally freaked out cat

A few days ago I had a couple of mates staying over, and we went for a walk down the rather long backyard. Over the fence is an abandoned Bowling Green and many people walk their dogs in there now.

At this point I should declare that the three of us are long-time BIG fans of animal comedy (hence why I have 3 cats).

Well of course my three black cats followed us down, and were chasing each other etc, as they do. Nursie-Girl (a complete Psycho-cat if ever there was one) decided to explore the other side of the fence, and a dog off the leash spotted her, and came charging over for a little tormenting. Nursie had a panic attack (it was only the second dog she's ever seen) and wasted her opportunity to scuttle back over the 70cm fence. The dog had her cornered, but when it got to about 4-5 metres away, she decided that bluff was the best defence. She stayed in this pose (whilst still moving around) for a good half minute or so. You can see in the background where her tormentor retreated to, after coming to a screeching halt at the sight of this enlarged black monster.

At the time we could only see the pic on his display (and me without my glasses), but I just knew there was going to be excellent expression in her eyes - she gets "Garfield" eyes on a regular basis.

In the next pic it appears that she is trotting, but in fact she was moving at an absolute snail's pace, in ultra slow motion. We were just falling over laughing, tears rolling down our cheeks. Barry (the mate) is a pro photographer, and very quick to sieze an opportunity. The autofocus hunted for the fence so that Nurse is a little out of focus, but it's a great pair of pics.

Good one Baz! Haven't laughed so hard in a long time!

There is not a day goes by where Nursie doesn't give me at least one decent laugh - she's a cracker.

Holy Smokes! Those eyes are Truly Evil... (just like "The Hood" in "The Thunderbirds"...

) She looks like Snoopy would if he was trying to imitate a demonically-possessed Camel...

Funny you should say that about the three of them being black and being in the habit of following you around; my brother's last two cats have both been black males, and they have habitually followed him over from his place to ours (which is over the back fence) and then back again when he (the Bro) comes over to visit, which has been each day for the last several years. Must be something in the breed. Both of them have had beautiful green eyes too, by the way. Truly superb animals...

That dog looks like it could be just a Poodle (ie. mostly comprised of curly hair), so she probably just wanted to have a little play (which makes Nursie just a big bully, whose pretending to be all tough and "gangsta" now!...) I'd be guessing that it probably took a while before it was safe enough for you to pick her up to congratulate her...

Lol.

She can be very free with her claws (which are huge), but not in a vicious way. I guess she just doesn't understand that her claws are big for her size, and the sharpest I've ever come across (even the back claws). I reckon she finishes them on a Shapton 4000g.

Actually I was able to grab her scruff almost immediately after we'd satiated our laughter, but ah, she sure wanted to get down again quickly (on the correct side of the fence). It wasn't a poodle, but similar. It was a blur of legs and curls when it hit the brakes!

Maybe I've been sanding too much timber lately, cos I found it disturbing yet funny.

There must be something about black cats.

We had one, very uninaginatively called Kitty ( we had another one called BC, short for black cat, at almost the same time so that moniker was already taken).

Anyhow, Kitty was sitting on our front verandah when the overweight black staffy from next door barreled up to him full of sound and fury. I thought, oh dear there is going to be some fur flying here and a really poor outcome for poor old Kitty.

Kitty just looked at the flying staffy and waited until he was withing striking distance. He then gave him a series of right and left hooks with the claws fully extended striaght across the nose. Well, that black staffy just took off howling with his tail firmly between his legs
