    Default Ukranian Logic

    Subject: Ukranian Logic

    Just can't beat this logic.
A Ukrainian walked into a bank in Toronto and asked for the loan officer.
He told the loan officer that he was going to Kiev on business for two weeks
and needed to borrow $5,000 and that he was not a depositor at the bank.
The bank officer told him that the bank would need some form of security for
the loan; so the Ukrainian handed over the keys to a new Ferrari. The car was
parked on the street in front of the bank.
The Ukrainian produced the title for the car, and everything checked out.
В The loan officer agreed to hold the car as collateral for the loan and
apologized for having to charge 12% interest.
Later, the bank's president and its officers all enjoyed a good laugh at the
Ukrainian for using a $250,000 Ferrari as collateral for a $5,000 loan. An
employee of the bank then drove the Ferrari into the bank's underground
    garage and parked it.
Two weeks later, the Ukrainian returned and repaid the $5,000 and interest
of $23.07. The loan officer said, "Sir, we are very happy to have had your
business, and this transaction has worked out very nicely, but we are a
    little puzzled.
While you were away, we checked you out and found that you are
a multimillionaire. What puzzles us is: Why would you bother to borrow
    $5,000?"
The Ukrainian replied, "Where else in Toronto can I park my car for two
    weeks
for only $23.07 and expect it to be there when I return?"
Ah, the Ukrainians... See! Kolbasa & Vodka 'IS' good for the brain.

A young acquaintance of ours inherited a significant amount of money and on the day he got access to the funds he went and bought a fancy sports car. He was so excited about the new car and the money, partying, and buying a whole lot of this and that, that he left his old car, a tried and rusty 20 year old vehicle, in an multi-storey city car park in the city. He'd heard if you just tell the parking people that you've lost your parking ticket you'll just pay the full rate for one day so he was in no hurry to pick it up. When he finally got around to picking it up, he got a bill for $1400 to which of course he complained and said the car was not worth half that and he would just leave the car there, to which the parking attendant said, it's OK we'll bill you every 3 months by mail. Of course the car would not start because the thieves had pilfered the battery and a number of the motor parts. Also the rego had expired, so he decided to have it towed - straight to a wreckers.

    Something Similar

In Las Vegas, until very recently, hotels offered free parking and a free shuttle to the airport.

The local residents would leave their car at the hotel valet parking and take the shuttle. Free valet parking for the duration. Now because of the 'T-Mobile Arena' the hotels near by are charging for parking. The hotels at the North end of the Strip don't offer a free airport shuttle.

At any rate it is about $20 to park your car for an out of town trip.
