Default Unfair at the Adelaide boat show.

I went to the boat show today, had a good time and there was plenty to see and was generally pleased with things but.

    rant on!

There is a tackle shop there who are from Adelaide who had some super specials on, while I was able to take advantage of some of these I was there just after opening time, eg $99.95 Daiwa game rods for $15.00 and Daiwa 7' rods from $49.95 to $15.00 as well as some large discounts on some reels, all good I think.

after walking around for a while I thought I would go and see if there was any more specials at this stand that I might have missed, I did get some line and some boxes of hooks but noticed that all the game rods had gone. I mentioned this to the bloke and he said that he thinks it was one of the other fishing gear dealers had come and brought them all.

sure enough as I walked around there was all the game rods at one of the fishing gear stands wrapped into a bundle out the back.

there are three fishing gear stands, one from Adelaide ( the one with the specials) and two from Melbourne.

what has got up my nose is that the shop in Adelaide has some genuine specials and this low life from Melbourne buys all the rods he can so most of the local's dont get to even see them, plus the knob will go and sell them for a big profit:mad:

    rant off!

Hardly his fault Ian, you should have acted quicker. Nobody else to blame.

If anyone is to be "blamed", I'd go for the seller. Normally they try to limit to one or two per customer. Selling them all to one buyer is counter-productive to having 'sale' items.

Whilst I understand how you feel about that, I've been on the other side of the fence when a competitor decides to try and make everyone look expensive and foolish, and our response has been to buy stock. His stock.

It would be smarter marketing to offer some sort of package deal like setting an amount to spend after which the game rod can be bought cheap. That would make it more interesting, and harder for the competitors to cherry-pick the specials.

    It's a dog-eat-dog world out there isn't it?

They usually limit the specials to one per customer ... guess they didn't care who they sold them to and how many they bought

Yeah, think so too. Dumb move by somebody. Absolutely no point in doing it.

IMHO the only winner, is the one who bought them!...

there was more than one winner as I brought three rods and did see a few other early birds with a couple as well.

and we have Ozwinner does that count.

    Cheers Ian

You would have thought that the owner of the business would have prefered to sell them singularily so that he may be able to sell other accessories to go with them so value adding to his sales.

By selling them as one lot you miss a lot of other potential sales.

I totally agree with you, it is not the best way to attract customers or sales/marketing technique, but those who got them got the best deal.

Just proves even the low life in Melbourne is still smarter (and quicker) than most of the people from (small town) Adelaide .

If only their AFL players were the same:mad:.
