Cutting 2 mm strips on TS - Vacuum power
Good day
The title is "2 mm" but it can be any thickness of strips....even less...
So...the sled is an 18mm Melamine board 900mm long and 200mm wide but, you choose yours.
I drilled 10mm "Vacuum holes" but first I drilled 6mm as a pilot hole (easier to control the drill) and than went with the 10mm drill bit to the end of the drill length
I drilled the holes at 100mm intervals but I think that the more holes, the better (say, every 60~70mm) even though, I did not have any problems with the vacuum pressure.
I drilled 20mm hole dia at the "end of the drill line"
The "Box" can be made of anything...I made it from pieces of chip-board and Melamine (that's what I found in the attic)
The Shop-vac is my converted "Electrolux" that I used on "Minimum" power.
I strongly recommend to use a "Feather board" to hold the work and sled firmly to the fence before entering the blade...especially on long boards
Regards
niki

Thank you so much
Canetoad
I keep the jigs on the shelves ant the wall together with the potatoes, onion, jam jars etc...
Oh the picture that you see the drill stand, you can see on the right side a few, like the, router sled, router table rail, feather rollers and the 45° cutting sled.

Thank you mates
Bob
Noop, I check the "family tree"...it starts some 2000 years ago in, what today is Israel, goes up-north to Bulgaria (probably evicted by the Greeks or the Romans) and back to Israel at 1949....nothing passed through Aussie

Bob, he sure doesn't sound like an Aussie.
I really like this one Niki. Didn't realize the vacuum would be strong enough for this kinda thing.
Just wondering, a small catch (dowel?) at the end just in case the vac doesn't have quite enough holding power and the piece decides to kick back?
Anyways, I will have to 'borrow' this one.

There is a "catch" at the end of the sled...I called it "pusher"...
You can see it on the pics of post #3

Thank you so much for the compliments.....BUT...
As you know, I'm posting on many forums around the globe, from Aussie through Italy, UK, USA and down to Brazil.
The only forum that I have seen so many inventions, jigs, fixtures, aids and you name it...and no, I'm not talking about "You can buy it at (URL)" but SELF MADE...is the Aussie forum.
After seeing what other forums have in there "HOMEMADE TOOLS AND JIGS ETC." I would say for sure, this is the most productive forum in the world.
Thank you so much Mates

Niki
As far as I'm concerned you are an honourary Aussie.
Your home made jigs are as good as any other on this forum (in my opinion) and that makes them as good as any in the world.
Another one for me to borrow.Cheers
Jim
