Ray, I am sceptical how sides that can't be parallel can be anything but a problem and not a good structural joint.

If you read the comments he says that after the initial mortise has been created he plunges it straight in and out against the right and left shoulders which makes it perfectly parallel.
The Festool model achieves the same result only because it osculates from side to side so quickly that there are barely microscopic steps in each shoulder.The person who never made a mistake never made anything
