Jointing on router table - version II
G'day mates
If you remember my notorious post "Jointing on router table"
https://www.woodworkforums.com/f44/jointing-router-table-46409
I took your replies very seriously and added some safety device; Fence on the other side of the straight edge.
The fence is clamped to the table and sits 0.3 mm from the jointed board (as you remember, I'm "shaving" only 0.1 mm at each pass).
The wooden Fence is acting not only as a guard but also, as a "locator" to position the next board without touching the router bit anymore (I have to rotate the bit by hand only at the initial set-up as in the first pic).
As you will see on the pics, the router bit is "buried" in the fence and protruding only 0.3 mm out so in case of pushback (I mean, swing), the jointed board can move laterally only 0.3 mm and stop there or it can be pushed back but first, I'm holding it with push block and second I'm standing behind the Straight edge (SE in the pics) or behind the fence.
I think that because the bit can "bite" only 0.3 mm, the pushback effect will be very weak.
The first pic is from the old post and the change comes after this pic. and as I said I have to position the bit only one time for all the boards.
Regards
niki
