Default Not quite a Mitre Saw Table but...

I was making an outdoor table and had to cut 8 boards as table top slats. I don't have a mitre saw table, but I simply placed the saw on a table and placed a board alongside the saw with some pieces of wood as a fence and a stop, secured with clamps (see picture).
It worked beautifully. I didn't have to measure and mark each slat before cutting

Timeline: < 1 month Decide makeshift mitre saw table could be improved by purchase of an actual mitre saw stand. Ministerial approval given because she is still in awe of the finished table.

+ 1 week After much soul searching and store visiting decide only Dewalt/AEG/Makita saw stand suitable...especially after one is seen "on special"

+ 2 weeks Begin next project using new saw stand. Simply amazing how much easier and quicker to set up etc. Wonder how a better saw would perform....

+ 2 weeks Decide old saw obsolete and requires replacement. Ministerial approval given because she is still in awe of finished projects; however eyebrow slightly raised.

+ 1 week After much soul searching and store visiting decide only Dewalt/AEG/Makita saw suitable... especially as it matches the stand.

+ 1 week Begin third project using new saw. Simply amazing how much easier and quicker to use, especially as sanding and finishing time is reduced. Wonder how a better sander would perform...

+ 1 week Decide new sander required. Need one that matches the saw. Ministerial approval reluctantly given but suspicions firmly voiced. Placated with reasoned argument that selling the old saw will offset the price of the sander. And something sparkly.

+ 1 year Shed now gleaming with new and matching power tools, lovingly arranged on gal shelving. Realise new shelving would be much more suitable. Minister now simply sighs and begins attending yoga classes.

+ 1 year New shed needed as old shed bursting at the seams with shelving, tools, "bargain" timber and half started projects. Minister now requires extra after class tuition from Derek the Ginger Yoga Teacher.

+5 years Decide to become a Dark-Sider as this now opens up a whole new avenue for tool purchases. Hammock now installed in shed "to help with my back". Occasionally visit ministry bearing chocolate and merlot.

+ 20 years Proudly hand over old GMC saw to strangely red-headed offspring, telling him/her that this is the only tool you ever needed and provide instructions on how to set it up as a mitre saw table.......
