Default Mortising in record time - Pool Table Video, part 3

It's been a while since I posted here. Some of you guys may remember my motorized router lift. I am making a video series on how I built a pool table, and video #3 showcases the motising setup with the foot activated motorized lift.

If you haven't seen my motorized router lift in action, check out Part 3 of this series. Since the original prototype, I have replaced the powerplant of the lift, and tricked out the tenon jig - so check out the latest version! The video will give you all the details you need to see how the motorized router lift works.

Follow this link to view the new video:

As always, please let me know what you think of the videos - I value the feedback of the my fellow woodworkers!

    Very clever John,

    Is this how it works?

The "motor" is a type of cordless drill and that full depth of cut is achieved when the cordless drills clutch stalls at a depth stop on the router?

I can see this catching on!

That's about right Mark. I can actually hear when it's no longer cutting and I stop. One simple modification I've been pondering is an indicator light that glows when I've acheived the maximum depth. It would be a simple contact circuit that illuminates a light when the router reaches the depth stop.

    The system works great.

Thanks for checking out the video.

The digital scale for depth is neat addition to the router table.

    Thanks

Not shown in the video is the remote readout for that caliper. It's a small unit mounted above the table. You can see it in the upper right hand corner of this picture:

The digital caliper and remote readout are nice for setting up, but the thing goes bonkers when I turn on the router. The display gets all confused. Possible interference from the router or vibration? I haven't had a chance to revisit that.
