Panther saw...not quite (new saw handle)
Hello out there
A while ago I picked up a brass backed saw that had a crappy home made handle that someone cut from a piece of floorboard. So what I have done is to grab a piece of redgum (a post from a fence we ripped down years ago) and cut a new handle starting from scratch . Like most people on this forum, I love the hand tools of old and the panther saw was one that come to mind while I was cutting the handle, so I thought I would give it a go (why not? ). I figured I would simplify it a bit as this was my first carving attempt. There was no real plan of attack either just draw the pattern on the block of redgum and start from there.
I think it turned out ok but what does everyone out there think?

Looks good with a little bit of style but the real test is how it feels to use.
Don't force it, use a bigger hammer.
Timber is what you use. Wood is what you burn.

Great job - it looks superb. Just goes to show what can be achieved when you give up chasing road runners!
