Strip sander
Started this a year ago, but it's spent most of that time sitting on a shelf half done. So I finally finished it off over the holidays.

The motor is from an industrial air con fan and it's running a 1 x 42 belt, rpm is a little on the slow side but it does the job.

It's a bit of a pain to get the belt off with the placement of the switch, a little more forethought would have helped. Just glad to finally have this done and to actually have a useful tool.
Cheers

Well done Craig.
It's probably a 1450 rpm motor?
If so with a drive pulley of around 4"? that gives it a linear speed of 1800 FPM - not too far from the low end of the recommended 2000 - 4000 FPM for wood sanding.
Have you thought about increasing the size of the drive pulley? It's not like you need a lot of power to drive such a narrow strip.

Thanks Bob
The drive wheel would be maybe an 1/8 shy of 5"
