    Good Evening Friends,
In residential construction, a safe design is usually obtained by making the width of the footing __________________ as wide as the foundation wall.

Default FOUNDATION QUIZ for 21 June 04

    Good Morning Friends,
The answer for todays quiz is that the footings should be twice the thickness of the foundation wall.

If the foundation wall is 8" standard concrete block then the footing should be 16".

If these quizzes are sounding a little too easy it is to help teach those who don't know.

    Thank you for your time.

Maybe so Ralph, but you didn't allow enough time for anybody to answer. You posted the question at about 9pm and answered it yourself at about 10 am

    Ralph,

I am not trying to discourage you with your quizzes and I hope that you will accept these comments as an effort to help you improve the quizzes.

Not only did you not allow enough time, bearing in mind that most of us are downunder, for anyone to look at it but IMHO a lot of your quizzes are not interesting or have any relevance to most of us.

Terrain layout quizzes, foundation quizzes, framing quizzes that relate to American building codes are not my cup of tea. There are too many quizzes on American timber terms and useage and quizzes based on imperial measurements with their subsequent weird conversions.

Maybe others have different opinions but I believe an analysis of the posts show few posts, and usually by the same knowledgeable people who know the answers because of their profession, and the number of views seem to confirm my thoughts.

    Good Evening Friends,
I guess the time span between when I post a quiz and the time I answer them is because there is a sack time for you fellows and I have been answering them before you even had a chance to read them. I agree that the terms are based on construction here in America and I guess that is because on my lack of knowledge of your terms in the land of OZ.

This I apologize for, so if you will, would someone enlighten me of your terms and manners of construction that I might install some interesting and challenging quizzes. Any an all help would be appreciated.

    Respectfully,
