    They're tools used by bodgers to split logs. The beetle is like a big mallet and the froe is a metal blade on a wooden handle. You hit the froe with the beetle to drive it into the log. Article in a woodworking mag I read the other day.

    Come on, sharp fellas like you should be able to work it out if you set your mind to it. I saw one in my toolbox the other day. It's a bit long in the tooth now but I've filed it away in case I ever need it.
