    Default Argghh. Festool repairs

The two worst websites in the known universe are Bunnings and Festool Aust. You need to be a space cadet to navigate them. Their search functions a totally useless.
The last Festool repair I needed involved dropping the machine off at a place called the Paint Spot in Moe. The guy was great to deal with but didn't know he was an agent. We got it sorted eventually and I got it repaired ok though.
I now have another machine that needs repair but the Paint Spot is no longer.
Does any Victorian Festool owner know where I can get my sander repaired? I did a search on the Festool site but it couldn't give me a location where I could take it. I'm at Yarragon.
    Advice will be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sheddie

Any place that sells Festool should also act as an intermediary to arrange for warranty service or repair.

Including, but not limited to Total Tools, Sydney Tools, Carbatec etc.

I’ve looking for replacement parts (such as a replacement plastic base for a Trion jigsaw), and cannot find a seller in Oz. I just move from one Seller to another. I have just linked to Toolhouse (as new to me), and they re-direct you to Festool Australia. Impossible!

Speak to the local rep. If you fill in the 'book a demo' bit on the website, the local rep will call you. You can then dash their hopes and get some help with the repairs.

There is also the option of Festool generating and auspost pre-paid label for you , and you can send it off like any other parcel.

Default Tool Technic for Festool repair

    Hi Sheddie
I have never been able to find what I want on their web site either.
Anthony at Ideal tools, Vic, has always looked after me.

Repairs go to Tool Technic in Victoria.
Communication is minimal but they are quick and reasonable.

Contact info should be in the attachment.

This is an industry wide issue - with a general lack of service, support, spare parts, and consumable items. I've been trying to source a replacement bar for a Makita corded electric chainsaw. I just get the run around. Off to the local Stihl store - at least they have local support, and very good customer service.

My corded Mak chainsaw would be 8-9 years old and came from the Bunnings 5 mins down the road then, now retired to rural area and they are a 1-1.5hr each way trip, and the nearest one is onne of the small limited stock ones so I don't bother. Bunnings had genuine Mak bars and chains on the shelf below the boxed saws at the time I bought mine. Wouldn't guarantee that they are still a stock line, but they should at least be obtainable via special orders.

    Default Repairers

As an aside about 4/5 years ago I bought a corded Bosch Professional circular saw for around $300 Only used it half a dozen times to cut some 5 ply sheets and it sat in my cupboard for a year or so. When I next used it, the damn thing started smoking. I took it into a local repair shop which had all the usual brands (not Festool tho) plastered all over the front window. Rocked up to the counter and told the guy the problem. Sorry mate, I don't deal with Bosch, its not worth repairing he says. It's less than 18 months old I says. The parts are too expensive you may as well toss it in the bin and buy a new one. Its the last Bosch thing I've bought since.

It seems most retailers are happy to sell you a new chainsaw or other tools / machines, however routine replacement / consumable parts from the same retailer are a "special order." Even the online portal for two of the major tool retailers here in TSVL bounce back to the local store for order fulfillment then you are contacted by the local store - "do you wish to go ahead?"

I gave up on chains long ago and went direct to the local Stihl dealer, knowledgeable staff, stock on hand, & great service. Seriously considering ditching the Makita.

Bosch currently have 6 year warranty on most of their pro line tools. Cant recall how long that has been going for but it's basically the best in industry. Personally I've never had a problem with any blue bosch tools and highly rate them especially the German made ones.

    Post Bosch Warranty repairs

Interesting. The guy wasn't the least interested in doing a repair. I was talking to him and he was shaking his head while i was talking. Rude, unhelpful and arrogant. I wasn't aware of the Professional Line having a 6 year warranty but he must have known. Anyway he's history to me now.

As to Festool service, I've managed to contact a human, after all efforts via the Festool site failed, and my Delta sander is getting repaired.
    Cheers
