The new scale I received from Festool is slightly different to the one that came on my Domino. It fits perfectly and has about 2mm side to side movement for fine tuning. A good outcome for me to get a perfect match when using the the scale to align the mortises. Just as a note - something I always do when using the Domino. Due to the very tight fitting, I usually just swipe sides of the Domino tenon over a piece of 180 grit sandpaper. I still get a tight fit, but much more manageable.

    Les

My Domino is about 6 months old, but the scale on mine also allows for movement to fine tune the position - I set it up according to the US Domino User Manual before first use.

Was yours one of the original machines (i.e. with the round spring-loaded pins)?? They may have had a different design of scale on the original machines.

I find that the difference between a good tight fitting domino and a ridiculously tight domino is just keeping the cutter at full plunge for a few seconds after making the cut. Good idea about the sandpaper though.
