Hmmm.... just re-read the flier and I think I found a fundamental flaw in my understanding. It says price matching power tools then 20% off everything else. So no 20% on power tools, just price matching power tools. Sorry

Makes you wonder why you would bother going to the trouble of trying to get them to price match.
I could stay home and order the tool online from somebody who is willing to offer the best price that they can, or I can drive all the way down to Lonsdale, try and convince the store that I can get a better price, only to be told its not in stock and they would have to order it in for me, but will not match the price as its not in stock. Now proudly sponsored by Binford Tools. Be sure to check out the Binford 6100 - available now at any good tool retailer.

When I was in the market for the EQ 55 I went there and told the guy I found a prince online, he cut me off and said that they don't price match online then turned around and walked away. So I got it from Plastering Supplies Victoria with free shipping and saving about $150. Sometimes these people shoot themselves in the foot.

That's not good, whenever I've wanted something I've invariably found that going to the store and haggling face to face to be very beneficial. Sometimes they weren't able to come down on price much at all, but made up for it by throwing stuff in. Calling over the phone is another matter though I've usually found, they seem to treat that as window shopping.

Yes, I have to say I am somewhat of a wimp when it comes to haggling. For your professional haggle I send in the wife. She can be viscous to say the least. My Daughter #2 is even worse. She is attractive personable and very scary when she gets on a mission.

I wish there'd been a haggling gene in my family for me to inherit! I never stood a chance.
I try to make up for its lack with extensive research /

It's not like i'm tight or anything, but I always extensively research anything I buy to ensure I buy the best possible quality at the best available price, and then I see if they can haggle a little more. It never hurts to ask I reckon, and so long as they don't feel they're being insulted, you'll find most sellers surprisingly receptive.
I'd never send my wife into a tool shop to haggle though as I'd end up being charged a higher price, but there have been places selling materials that she received dramatic discounts on without even asking or trying, after I'd been provided higher costs at the same place by the same seller!
Sexism I says!

While not tools, a while a go I need to buy a door. Went to the shop and was quoted $150 on a four panel door.
The following week I purchased said door and paid $99. Just the price the sale's guy offered it for.
Some days you can be lucky.

Well, it's too late for me, but ideal tools is running a festool sale that includes some domino gear:
Featured+Specials Online - Ideal Tools - FESTOOL Shop and User Knowledge Base. Plus TORMEK, WALKO, WSE, PROTOOL.
Includes specials on systainers of dominoes and cutters, and some accessories... Not bad - shame I need to exercise some financial constraint this month!

The same deal is on the Festool Australia website. I dont know how long it goes for, however after the deal I would bet the price will go up.
Im interested myself but like you need to wait a few months.

Probably not as generous as it first appears.
You have to
1. Buy one of the bare tools in the Power Select 18V range at full price from one of the specified dealers
2. Register the tool
3. Receive the $50 discount card
4. Use that card to get $50 off you next purchase from the Power Select 18V range
All by the end of March.
If you do not already have batteries and chargers you have to buy them now but you cannot use the card to discount them.
So you need to buy two tools, batteries and chanrger so on a $1200-$1300 purchase you aer saving $50
Very generous.

Wow! $2350 is the special price for the Domino XL and one kit of Dominoes and cutters!
I know the Domino is a real game changer, but that's still pretty steep.
I still think you'd do better with one of the many stores like Just Tools in Sth Melb and haggling.

Good luck with that haggling! It's just not going to happen while the current regime's in place.

United tools in Thomastown use to have fantastic sale on Festool every May or June during their one day sale. A few years ago I got a new CXS drill for $250, a ex display Domino, set of domino bits and systainer with assorted dominos for under $1100. A while talking to the Festool rep at the sale he mention he had a demo CT36 for $500.
That was a great sale! Shame they can't do it anymore.
The tradies show at the show grounds use to have really good deals.
