    Default ET2E sander repairs

My trusty old Festo ET2E Random Orbital is in need of some attention.
The pad wobbles slightly so I've stripped it down somewhat to see what the problem is. If I hold the armature and turn the spindle the bearing is quite rough and has a tiny bit of play in it.
So I'm guessing that the eccentric bearing (if that is the right name) needs to be replaced. How to I get it out/off?

    Hi Mark

There are two ways to remove the eccentric bearing from the ET 2 E, the first requires the use of Festool special service tool designed specifically for the removal of ET and ETS eccentric bearings this is by far the quickest way to perform the bearing replacement on your sander

If you haven’t access to the service tool all is not lost, with the ET 2 E there is a second option but this will require the removal of the fan assembly from the armature, I will try to explain below

    1. Hold the armature
    2. Unscrew the eccentric fan from armature shaft (Left hand thread)
By removing the armature you can now see the eccentric bearing assembly through the threaded hole where the armature was previously fitted
    3. Press the eccentric bearing assembly out
    4. Remove ‘C’ Clip
    5. Press bearing from shaft

Note that the eccentric bearing fitted to the ET and ETS sanders is a double sealed double row bearing these bearing give exceptional service life, to ensure future durability our advice is to replace with same bearing. The part number is 401125 and is available through any Festool dealer

If you require assistance or further explanation regarding above please feel free to contact the Festool service centre direct: 1300 063 900

I ended up posting the armature / base to have the bearing replaced properly.
Thank you to all for a professional job, excellent service and great communication. I picked up the part today from the post office and reassembled the sander.
    All good
