    Default Festo giveaway.

Following the theft of most of my power tools & a selection of the best of my hand tools, I have some "widows & orphans" in need of a good home.

Some I intend to sell, but for some I cannot in all conscience ask for any sort of payment.

One such item/set is a dusty but unused Festo Standard Cleaning Set 492384

    http://www.festool.com.au/epages/too...roducts/492389

minus the crevice tool. If somebody wants one I'm happy to send it to you without asking for payment, with a couple of provisos: you must have an actual need for a cleaning set and you must not try to sell this on, which I'd consider to be unconscionable, unethical profiteering from another's misfortune.

Don't get too excited. The set is basically cheap, plastic rubbish, not the quality stainless steel or alloys that you'd get from a more reputable manufacturer. That the set retails for about $90 odd speaks more of the need to recoup losses from "extreme" discounting in USA markets than of any intrinsic value of the tools themselves, which frankly are of rather dubious merit in my own opinion.

There's also a couple of boxes of "Granat" 90mm dia. Rotex discs:
    http://www.festool.com.au/epages/too...roducts/497363
about half full (25 odd discs) &
    http://www.festool.com.au/epages/too...roducts/497364
about 80% full (40 odd discs).

Again free to somebody with a genuine need for these paint-removing discs who will actually use them rather than sell them on. As I'll be away for a few days repairing the damage done in the burglary & hopefully making the buildings more secure, it may be a week or so before I'm able to send these items on.

    That sucks mate.
    Any insurance?
It pisses me off that these scum think they have the right to take stuff that someone else has worked hard to get.

    Hello Ratbag,

If the cleaning set hasn't yet found a home, I'd like to have it please. I've got a CTM26, with both 27 & 36mm hoses, and at the moment just use the end of the hose to suck up loose stuff. So, it wouldn't go astray.

Promise I won't on sell. Did the same thing last year on the forum with old Oz Woodworker magazines, which I gave to Evanism on the same basis, so understand exactly where you're coming from.

Cheers, and sorry to hear about your loss,

    Mark

Sorry to hear of your equipment loss. I understand that the horse has bolted but make sure it can't happen again, often the scum comes back for another go after you have made replacements.

I fully concur with your giveaway sentiments as I have done the same with some old chest drills and a drill press for an electric drill, they went to one of our younger members in Brisbane who was genuinely happy and has given them a workout as he was building a house the old way.
    Regards,
    Bob

Told you it'd be a few days to reply. Just dropped the trouble & strife off @ the local airstrip, so just arrived home for a few days.

If you can PM me your address details I'll send them off. DO NOT publish any personal details like names, addresses etc. on this public fora.

Glad I can be of assistance.

To those of you who've offered sympathy & advice over my misfortune, many thanks and a very merry Christmas to you all.

My losses have amounted to approx. $36k. Most will be replaced over time with like for like, although some are irreplaceable: a 1980 vintage Sidchrome socket set which was a 21st birthday present from my dad, some of his old AEG, Elu & hand tools that I'd inherited, and some that I'm frankly glad to see the back of like some dodgy old Festo cordless drills.

I've substantially increased security measures as much as I'm currently able to hopefully deter or perhaps slow down & if nothing else then at least inconvenience recidivists.

A big shout out to Ratbag for his kind donation - I really appreciate it. Package arrived today and my wife was over the moon at the genorisity. Only negative point is that I've got some sanding to do LOL

    Cheers

    Hello Ratbag,

Thank you for sending the cleaning kit. PO notice is dated 4/1/17, but only picked up yesterday as we were away last week.

    Cheers,

    Mark

The theft really sucks Ratbag. From the forum we know your passion and wide knowledge of tools and to lose your collection and those sentimental ones as well, it must hurt a lot. Hope there were some circular saws amongst them so that they might cut their thieving hands off.
