Thread: Festool Dust extraction

G'day guys. This qualifies for the Festool forum because it shows my domino connected to the subject of this post (picture #5). I made a cyclone dust collector so I don't have to worry about filters (or fine dust).

I'm using a Karcher vac with a Triton bucket for dust collection. However, the RO150 is so efficient at wicking dust from the work surface, I had contemplated buying one of Carbatec's "lids" for use with a large container. Problem then becomes, how big before its either a pain to move or prone to spontaneous combustion because it takes so long to fill. I like your solution. .

Hawks rule. Now if only they could lure!

G'day mate. I use a an Arlec wet/dry powered shopvac I got from Kmart last year for 99 bucks. The filter is a bugger to keep clean so hopefully with the cyclone all it gets is the very finest dust. FIngers crossed. I'm yet to test it out. Still waiting for the silicone to cure in all the joints and gaps.

Shedhand, I haven't seen the filter on the Arlec vac, but if it is anything like my ShopVac from Bunnies, ie the pleated paper type round filter cartridge, I have just overcome some of the problem with cleaning this. The pleats in this filter cartridge collect not only dust but wood bits and all sorts of other debris. I asked SWMBO obeyed to remove her pantyhose and stretched this over the cartridge, left the legs on but they can be cut off. Has improved it immensely and now is much easier to clean. BTW I don't think the colour of the pantyhose matters

Yep filter is the same on mine. Dunno if the ex will give me her panty hose...

Cool idea. I'll use m'own, though.

Had the CT33 for past 3 years and cant fault it any way, its also greta as a vac around the hoouse. For stuff like planing and routing i hook up the triton bucket to it. the 33 ltr bag last me about 6 months and at $80 for 5 bags cost isnt an issue
