Festool in the UK - makes you want to cry
Over in the UK visiting the grand kiddies.
Of course one of the important things to do is visit the local tool stores and look up prices
One had a special deal - Festool TS55 REBQ PLUS FS TRACK SAW with RAIL and CTL26 Extractor for £754 down from £1059
On the current exchange rate that's $1675 down from $2353
Sydney prices for the same package are $2229

I did that set for $2154.
Since its the same voltage, grab some stuff and bring it back things like the Domino are supposed to be a lot cheaper too.
It may be because you are closer to the Fatherland.
Regards
Graham

Things are a bit different on the Domino, probably because it's kinda unique.
full price on 500 - £748, discount price £607 (AU $1662, $1349) and OZ price $1479. For the sake of saving only $130 I'd buy in OZ re warranty.
The other interesting thing is when I bought some Triton router spare parts with an Australian Billing address but a UK delivery address, I didn't pay VAT?

IMHO, Generally Australia is RIPPED OFF on tools across the board whether power or hand tools, we pay a HUGE premium.......
A good friend of mine owners a tool shop and has worked in the industry for 35yrs and he has confirmed that very fact to me on a number of occasions, Australia pays something like 25-50% about North America & Europe....

It has been my observation that when the dollar dropped to its historic normal level of about 70c to the USD suddenly the prices of stuff was line ball in a lot of cases. It seems that the retailers had historically used that difference to work out their margins and were not prepared to move lower so they all started whinging instead of trying to be competitive. I notice they have all shut up now, how surprising!!
I was reading a Festool forum in another place and all the Americans were lamenting the fact that they could not get a lot of the Festool range and could not import it due to the voltage issues. Everyone's got a different take on it I guess and they scream as loud as us about the prices they have to pay which we find strange.CHRIS

I was in the UK in august and stopped at the only hardware cum tool shop that I saw on my trip to see how much a 1200 track extension would cost. It was 65 pounds compared to about $200 here but I decided it was too long and a pain to carry around so didn't bother with it.
