Nice work! I literally did this yesterday but didn’t use double sided tape. I ordered a generic brand strip and it hadn’t arrived yet so I just moved the strip across, ran my TS75 over the rail and now it cuts on the strip perfectly. I’ll see how long it lasts this way then install the new strip.

For when your Festool strip has finally had it, you can use Makita strips which are far more economical.

Well I did not take photos while doing it. The result looks like a new strip except for at the 2 ends as more has been taken off over time when running the saw too far. The method I used for putting on the double sided high tack tape was to hold the roll in one hand against the lip which is where the strip previously touched. to keep correct alignment while unrolling bit by bit while pressing down to avoid air bubbles. This worked well. When applying the splinter guard I rolled it up in one hand to keep it from touching too far ahead and pressed down a little at a time. Only some patience needed as it only takes about 7min to do the tape and splinter guard for 1 1.4m rail.

I repositioned my strips as well. The doublesided glue that I used was Nitto Denko 512. This is the glue that holds the plastic badges on cars.

I peeled off the original strip that was letting go, washed both the rail and the strip with laquer thinners, and replaced the strip moving it out by 1 mm.

Can't say it is as good as new - it's better than new, as the strip is now really stuck and no longer falling off.

I tried to buy some but couldn't find any source. Contacted Nitto Denko and the local rep sent me a sample sheet.

Les, so what brand of tape did you use?

I use it for box linings too. Its very easy to use, but DONT let it touch anything you dont want NOT stuck together!

I have done this on both my rails. They come in 3 metre rolls. I got mine from Trade Tools for $14.50 per roll.

Thanks for the info. Good to know and may order some at those cheap prices and wait for the whale to arrive with the goods strapped to it's back .

I've been ordering a few small things from China recently. There WAS a burp for a while there .... but it seems the delivery problems now reside within Oz.

I meant to add, that the tape is the slightly yellow very thin tape you'll find within electronics (like phones), on womens shoes (e.g. suede) and sneakers/joggers. I wasn't kidding that its strong - it really is unbelievable - once its on, its permanently on.

For box lining its incredible. Its micro thin, but tough. Easy to lay out and take off the backing... stick lining to card. I made dozens of jewellery displays for DJ's, Myers and Dymocks before finding this stuff.... the job went from tedious to incredibly fast.... I stuck down suede, leather, megelite and whatnot - all without failure or return for re-do's.
