    Default plugit cable

i recently added a ts55 to my shed ... in small tools i already had a domino and a rotex .... they were all bought from a (the same) reputable melbourne store ... the ts55 has a different plug, so the domino and rotex cables won't go in it and its cable won't go in the other machines

i thought they were all supposed to be interchangable

    is this a new thing?

    regards david

There's two different cables. One for the smaller tools which is rated to less power current and has a notch to prevent it being used in larger tools.
However the higher rated cable should still fit the smaller tools.

Maybe that's a new thing in the last couple of years? My cables all fit TS55R, Domino, ETS 150, ETS EC 150, TS75.

Same here. I can swap all of my tools on the one cable.

I have a TS55R (maybe 2yo), TS55 (10 yo) and Domino 500 (10 yo). No problems swapping between those 3 or any of the other Festool tools in my shed.

thanks that makes sense .. i must admit i hadn't tried the no notched one in the domino etc (unlike what i actually wrote) ... i had just made an assumption .. i will post a couple of photos later for the others here who were also unaware of it

I thought that the two sizes of cord only applies to 110V tools. In Aust there is only one type of plug-it connector and it fits all of the 230V tools.

i didn't know about 110v tools, but this was bought from a legitimate dealer in australia (same place for all the small festool tools) so definitely australian issue

Just checked all of my tools and I can confirm that there are two different types of connector on the tools however almost all of my tools were supplied with cables that are the heavier gauge type. The TS55REBQ has the heavy gauge connector so its cable should fit everything.

Decided to recheck all of my tools and found that I have 5 tools with the light gauge connector and only the TS 55 has the heavy gauge socket.

However, just to confuse the issue, only one of my cords is the light gauge one, which was supplied on the RO150 about 4 years ago. Since then I have only been supplied with the heavier cord.

As Festool Aust only list one type on their website it may be that they have dropped the light gauge cord (but it wouldn't surprise me if their website was wrong).

thanks for checking it out ... my rotex and domino are certainly a few years old ... the kapex has a fixed lead and doesn't run off the plugit stuff anyway, as does the dust extractor

for the others who may or may not be that worried ... a photo of two leads side by side

    regards david

All my leads are like the left one in your pic. Which is the heavier duty one? Left (which should fit everything)?

The left one is the heavy gauge cord that should fit everything. Not heavy duty as they sell that separately, it has a thicker insulation the heavy gauge has thicker wire.

To assist, if I recall correctly, the separately available heavy duty cable is green instead of black to differentiate it?
